LeAnn Rimes has released the music video for her new single, "The Story." A poignant, piano-based ballad, "The Story" showcases Rimes' emotive singing style, while the artistic video paints a strikingly different picture.

The haunting three-and-a-half minute video has Rimes frozen in time as the world flashes before her. The clip has Rimes' body rigid as a rose garden appears beside her. While Rimes is never pictured singing in the video, the song manages to strike a chord.

"All of these lines across my face tell you the story of who I am / So many stories of where I've been and how I've got to where I am," she sings at the track's start as her hand is placed on her face. Looking more like a wax figure, the video's visual is memorable.

"The Story" was written by Phil Hanseroth and was first recorded by Brandi Carlile. The song is the lead single from Rimes’ forthcoming 16th studio album. While there are no details on the upcoming release, Rimes has said that "The Story" acts as the next step along her musical path.

“I fully embrace the journey I am on and have a deeper understanding of how every piece of my story serves a purpose in my evolution as a woman and an artist,” she says in a press release. “This song is not only a love song but a song of self-acceptance and appreciation for life.”

Rimes recently signed with RCA-UK, Rolling Stone Country reports. She released “The Story” through RCA-UK on June 24.
