Lee Ann Womack is opening for George Strait and Reba McEntire on their tour right now. Little did the country star know what was in store for her when she got off stage this past weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. PEOPLE reports that a police officer was waiting for her at the edge of the stage, handcuffs in hand. The country star says, "All I saw was this giant badge and my heart stopped. I swear I was so scared 'cause I had no idea what was going on."

It turns out that the whole thing was an elaborate prank devised by her touring crew. We have to go back to Friday morning: Womack was at the venue, the Quicken Loans Arena, and in her pajamas, trying to walk her dogs. Security guards had told her all areas were off limits, so she was having trouble finding a place to walk them.

Not only were all areas no dog zones -- the PJ wearing Womack was mistaken for LeAnn Rimes not once, but multiple times! She ended up getting so flustered she couldn’t even find her way back to her own tour bus.

Based on what had happened earlier in the day, seeing the policeman Friday evening seemed somewhat legitimate to the 'I Hope You Dance' singer. Once she got over the initial shock that a cop was waiting for her, she realized he was wearing a British bobby uniform, and then she figured out it was all a prank. "I just doubled over laughing, but they got me," she admits. "They got me good!"

Womack's next tour dates are March 4 in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 5 in Rosemont, Ill., and March 25 in Las Cruces, N.M.
