Kalie Shorr is ToC's first #LetTheGirlsPlay artist, and so far you've learned about her through music and storytelling. Today, the 20-year-old redhead gets to tell her story using photos from her childhood in this cool scrapbook-style gallery.

Beginning with her first song at age six and continuing with her first guitar at age 13, Shorr shares highlights from her life so far. As you've learned, she's much older than what's written on her driver's license. The Portland, Maine native has been prepping and planning for the future ahead of her for years. She's ready.

Each month Taste of Country and Song Suffragettes will highlight a new, rising female singer-songwriter. The movement started one year ago as a way to provide women a network of support as they chase dreams and careers in country music. “There’s a lot more pressure on female artists, but I don’t think it’s something that girls can’t do," Shorr tells Taste of Country.

We're proud to be a part of the solution.
