Recently, seven talented country females took the stage to cover a pop hit. Every Song Suffragettes show at the Listening Room in Nashville wraps with a collaborative cover. This cover of Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s” might be one of the best yet.

The #LetTheGirlsPlay movement began in response to the struggles female artists were having getting their music heard. Taste of Country has been a proud partner since May 2015, featuring a monthly spotlight artist in addition to weekly covers. Kalie Shorr was the very first #LetTheGirlsPlay artist, and she leads this peppy acoustic jam.

Along with Maybe April’s mandolin player, Shorr holds the arrangement down. Antonette Galletti takes the second half of the first verse before Krysta Nick. That’s Lena Strong at the first chorus. She too is a regular member of the Song Suffragettes stage players.

Maybe April is an all-female country trio that sits on the far right side of the stage. Everyone featured is pushing for a career in country music, be it with a publisher or record label or both.
