Lindsay Ell is turning out to be a hard artist to beat in the Showdown — but now she's taking on her toughest competition yet, vying against Eric Church today and over the weekend for a shot at the Hall of Fame.

Ell's new single, "By the Way," is an uptempo, fun track that employs fiddles and banjos for a song about moving on from a broken relationship. The song also allows Ell to show off her guitar playing, and her loyal fans have been turning out in overwhelming numbers to vote for it, most recently giving her the win over Don Henley's new song.

Church surprised everyone in country music when he dropped a new album unannounced this week. He performed its first single and title song, "Mr. Misunderstood," on the CMA Awards and is now sending it to country radio. The track speaks to all of the young outsiders who are on the margins, waiting for their chance to shine. Can Ell win her way past Church, or will he cut her Hall of Fame charge short?

Listen to clips of both Ell and Church's songs and vote for your favorite here. You can vote once every hour until this Showdown ends on Monday at 8AM ET, so come back and vote often to be sure your artist wins. The winner of this matchup will face a new challenger on Monday.

Showdown Rules: The song with the most votes wins, and the winner goes on to face a new challenger in the next Showdown. Vote as much as once per hour online. If a song wins five Showdowns in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete. Some songs will be considered for a second Showdown if voter turnout is healthy in a losing effort.
