Little Big Town are front and center on Miranda Lambert's latest song, "Smokin' and Drinkin'," but it was almost the group that recorded the song. LBT's Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet called in to chat with Taste of Country Nights about the tune.

LBT and Lambert were shopping around for songs for their most recent albums at the same time and, because of that, both artists came across "Smokin' and Drinkin'" — and both liked the song! Luckily they're all such good friends who love one another, so they came to an agreement.

"We love that girl," Schlapman says at the mere mention of Lambert's name, before Sweet finishes the story.

“This is one of those songs too that we heard when we were listening to music for the Pain Killer record, and Miranda was listening to music for her new record, and it just so happened that she knew we wanted it too," he explains. "We let her have it, but she said, ‘Will you sing on this record?’ and of course we had to do it. It was just perfect. I love this moment and the way it feels. We’re genuinely good friends with Miranda, and it’s a genuine feel-good song.”

Little Big Town are still riding the success of their song "Girl Crush," which Sweet refers to as "the biggest thing we’ve had happen to us." He says, "It’s been the most incredible journey to see this song from the beginning of its life to where it’s going and continues to go. It’s just blowing us away."
