With his party-boy persona, it's easy to assume that Luke Bryan's 'Crash My Party' lyrics make up another song about drinking cold beers and hanging out. But a closer listen reveals that there's more to Bryan than cutting loose.

'Crash My Party' was co-written by Ashley Gorley and Rodney Clawson, and it's different than most of Bryan's party anthems, because the songwriters set out to make it that way. Clawson had come up with the idea for 'Crash My Party' before he met with Gorley, but he was waiting on the perfect songwriting session to really explore it. When he arranged to write with Gorley for the first time, he realized that they were a perfect match.

"I had that idea for a little while, and I was kind of saving it to write with the right person," Clawson tells Roughstock of penning Luke Bryan's 'Crash My Party' lyrics. "It was the only time Ashley and I had ever written together, just the two of us. I threw that idea out, and he really jumped on it. With this song, we intentionally tried not to put trucks and tailgates and beer and all that into the song."

The music video for 'Crash My Party' reveals that it's truly a song sung from the perspective of a man who loves a woman and wants her to know that she's always welcome in his life. But some lyrics, like, "If you wanna call me, call me, call me / You don’t have to worry ‘bout it baby / You can wake me up in the dead of the night / Wreck my plans, baby that’s alright," have caused listeners to wonder if the song is more about hooking up than it is about romance.

"Some people have asked me if it's a 'booty call' song, but it's not really, I don't think," Clawson continues. "It's just telling a girl ... hey, I like you so much that if you call me, I'll come to wherever you are or my door's open any time you want to come by because I want to see you, whether it's like two in the morning or if I'm in the front row of the best show ... if you call, I'm coming to meet you."

If you really listen to the 'Crash My Party' lyrics, it's clear that the song has nothing to do with the kind of parties that most of us like to crash. Clawson and Gorley used the tricky title on purpose.

"We made it a little bit of a trick with the title. When people see 'Crash My Party,' they think it's probably going to be a party song, but it's not," Clawson explains. "We were able to use a little bit of a deception there with the title."

Bryan was the first person to hear the would-be hit, and he immediately put a hold on it -- and for good reason, too. Since releasing the single in April 2013, it has already achieved certified Gold status and hit No. 2 on the country charts.

"Luke was the only person who heard the song. He was the only one we pitched it to, and he immediately put it on hold," Clawson recalls. "Luckily we got the first single. It's my only cut on the record. I think Ashley's got five other cuts on the record [laughs]. Luke's been really good to us. Ashley, more so than I, is really dialed into what Luke is wanting to do right now. I was just lucky enough that Ashley and I wrote that song, and it ended up being exactly what he was looking for."

'Crash My Party' is the title track from Bryan's upcoming album, which will be released on August 13.
