Luke Bryan's new single, 'Drunk on You,' has some heavy hitters behind the song's lyrics. Rodney Clawson, Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins are the three minds who penned the tune that has been creating a stir since its release.

"When you get together and write with Chris, the whole time he is like building a track on Pro Tools, and then he’ll turn around and throw out these amazing lyrics," Clawson tells Taste of Country. "The idea that we actually wrote to was called ‘High on Summertime.’ We felt like ‘Drunk on You’ was a better title because you can’t say ‘high’ in a country song [laughs]! Even though it’s not a getting high on drugs; it’s getting high on summertime. It was a really fun song to write because it was just painting a scene of a bunch of kids sitting in a circle."

"Girl, you make my speakers go boom boom / Dancin' tailgate in the full moon / That kinda thing makes a man go mmm hmmm / You're lookin' so good in what's left of those blue jeans / Drip of honey on the money maker gotta be / The best buzz I'm ever gonna find / Hey, I'm a little drunk on you / And high on summertime," they wrote in the chorus.

"The first line of the chorus is 'you make my speakers go boom-boom,'" says Clawson. "You know how trucks and cars are these days with the sound systems … you get a little hip-hop in there and it’s thumping pretty good [laughs]! Then the line 'drip of honey on the money maker gotta be the best buzz I’m ever gonna find' … [laughs] … People from where I grew up just look at me and say the line to me, and they’ll be like, ‘What does that mean?’ My standard answer is, ‘Exactly what you think it does.’ The song is about a girl that this guy is just head over heels about."

"If you ain't a 10, you're a 9.9 / Tippin' and spillin' that homemade wine / On your tied up t-shirt / Every little kiss is drivin' me wild / Throwin' little cherry bombs into my fire / Good God all mighty," Bryan sings in the song.

"I know Luke is rockin’ that song out on the road right now," says Clawson. "Everybody that goes to a Luke show calls me and tells me, ‘Dude! ‘Drunk on You’ sounds so cool live and every body is singing along!’ Hopefully it will be a big hit."
