Luke Bryan won the 2012 American Music Award for Favorite Country Male during Sunday's (Nov. 18) TV broadcast. He beat out his 'The Only Way I Know' cohorts Jason Aldean and Eric Church for the prize, which was presented by Lady Antebellum.

The win was a momentous occasion for Bryan, since it marked his first AMA win... ever. When his name was announced, he stopped to kiss his wife and leapt onto the stage, saying to the crowd, "Wassup!"

While at the mic, he thanked his wife for letting him be a big kid on the road and doing what he loves -- make music. It was a funny and fitting acceptance speech, since Bryan's reaction to winning an AMA was filled with childlike wonder.

The singer also said that fan-voted awards always mean the most to him, since it's the fans who got him where he is today. He delivered a rapid-fire list of "Thank yous" to all the people who work for him behind the scenes, from his manager to his agent to his label.

It was certainly a textbook example of how to deliver a flawless awards show speech when you have a limited amount of time and a whole mess of people to thank in a minute-long span.

Congrats to Luke Bryan on his first-ever win at the 2012 American Music Awards! Let's hope this is the first of many more to come.
