America is celebrating its 237th birthday Thursday (July 4), a holiday rich with tradition. One person missing his family's Fourth of July celebrations, rites and rituals is Luke Bryan.

The singer, who will release a new album called 'Crash My Party' on Aug. 13, recalls how it was his duty to nab the fireworks on his way home to Georgia from Tennessee for the Fourth. Because, really, what is Independence Day without fireworks exploding across the night sky? Due to his cargo, Bryan's younger family members were always happy to see his car turn on their road.

"Some of my favorite Fourth of July memories were spent on Lake Blackshear down in Georgia with my family,” Bryan shares. “I was always kind of in charge of driving home from Tennessee and picking up all the fireworks and my nieces and nephews always got excited when I rolled in because they knew I had all the fireworks."

He adds, "I miss not getting to do that as much as we used to."

Maybe next year Bryan can revive some long-dormant traditions! It's never too late.
