Luke Bryan is one of the biggest superstars in country music today, but that doesn't mean he can't still get excited over one of his own idols.

The "Move" singer admits he was a little flustered seeing Shania Twain on Wednesday night (Oct. 19) at the taping of CMT's Artists of the Year event.

"I'm always flattered that these people that I consider heroic artists and defining artists, I can't believe they know my name," he told Entertainment Tonight at the event. "I still get starstruck around people like her."

Twain was on hand to accept the Artist of a Lifetime Award, and she was also honored with a musical tribute from Kelsea Ballerini, Jill Scott and Meghan Trainor. Bryan received CMT's Artist of the Year award for the fifth consecutive year.

"It just makes me reflect on a lot of years of being really blessed and a lot of support from the fans out there," he says. "This is a fun night, it's a laid-back night."

Twain was equally excited to receive her award.

“I don’t want to get off the stage right now because I’m loving this moment,” she said in her acceptance speech. “I love music, and I hope that it carries on for many more years in my life.”

“I’m a songwriter, a performer, an entertainer, a singer, and I guess collectively a huge pile of hard work has gone into it all over so many years,” she added. “I started professionally 44 years ago. Almost my entire life has been as a professional artist in one capacity or the other. I feel like I’ve lived three lifetimes.”

During a red carpet interview with Rolling Stone Country at the event, Twain also confirmed some welcome news for her fans.

“I have new music coming out really soon, and I’m very excited about it," she states. "There will be a new musical chapter."
