Maddie & Tae’s ‘Girl in a Country Song’ Covered Heavy Metal Style [Watch]
Imitation is supposedly the sincerest form of flattery, but we're not sure if Maddie & Tae should be thrilled by this, or horrified.
The country newcomers scored a No. 1 hit straight out of the box with their debut single, 'Girl in a Country Song,' which cleverly takes on the female stereotypes of bro-country. Now the song's success has inspired a very ... uh, interesting new take in the form of a heavy metal cover version.
The new twist on the song is courtesy of Chris Cruise, a radio personality who currently serves as the night host on Seattle country station KMPS. According to his website, Cruise is a "radio disruptor" whose goal is "no 'radio voice,' and no pretending to be something he's not."
For better or worse, he certainly managed to stand out from the country music crowd with the clip above. Cruise's YouTube channel also includes metal covers of Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum and Luke Bryan.
