Country newcomer Maren Morris proved her place in country music when taking the stage at the 2016 CMA Awards to perform her hit, "My Church."

Described by introducer Carrie Underwood as "one of the most exciting new voices in country music this year," Morris earned her keep with a sultry performance that was made that much better by the presence of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who added a whole host of soul and sprit to the already stellar performance. Looking stunning in a elegant back dress, the young singer had the entire audience on their feet, singing "every single verse" right along with her — everyone from Lady Antebellum to Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line. The "My Church" performance — one of the best of the night — was followed by standing ovation from the crowd.

Morris is up for Female Vocalist of the Year alongside Miranda LambertKacey MusgravesKelsea Ballerini and Underwood. Before introducing Morris, Underwood gave a shout out to many of the past Female Vocalist of the Year nominees who were in the audience including Gretchen Wilson, Crystal Gayle, Pam Tillis and Tanya Tucker, saying that "we love you all." Based on this year's performance, it's a very real possibility that Morris could see herself nominated again, and winning this category, in the future.

She's nominated for seven 2016 CMA Awards including New Artist of the Year, which she won, Album of the Year and more.
