More details surrounding the untimely death of Mindy McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, have been released, including new information that the recording producer died in an apparent suicide.

According to the New York Times, Wilson passed away at his home on Sunday (Jan. 13) from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the details of the tragic event.

Wilson, 34, was the father of McCready's second son, Zayne, as well as a caregiver to the singer's older child, Zander, from a previous relationship.

“David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne,” McCready says in an official statement. “He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father."

Adding to her remembrance, the 'Ten Thousand Angels' singer shares, “David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David, missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man.”
