Miranda Lambert, who was set to open for Alan Jackson in concert at six scheduled tour dates in Australia, has canceled her appearances. The singer is suffering from a respiratory infection. Lambert was meant to start the string of Australian performances this Friday night, March 4, at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

"I was very much looking forward to Australia with Alan Jackson and performing for all the music lovers down under," Lambert laments.

What is bad news for the 'Heart Like Mine' crooner and her Australian fans is good news for Jasmine Rae, a new Australian country music artist, and fellow Aussie McAlister Kemp, who will now open for Jackson. Another Australian country singer, John Williamson, will replace Lambert at the CMC Rocks the Hunter venue this weekend as well.

Provided she is feeling better, Lambert's next show will be back in the U.S. on March 16 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.
