Miranda Lambert name-checks late actress Marilyn Monroe twice on her fifth studio album, 'Platinum.' It's no surprise that she possesses much respect for the fellow platinum knockout, and the country star admits she's following in Monroe's fashionable footsteps.

"I didn't really realize Marilyn Monroe was in my record twice until I listened to it all the way through," Lambert tells Radio.com. Even though it was by accident that Monroe is mentioned twice on the album, it's not a coincidence -- the country singer has a huge amount of respect for the sex symbol.

"I think Marilyn's an icon to pretty much everybody," Lambert says, adding with a laugh, "She should be on the record 100 times."

In fact, the 'Automatic' singer is imitating Monroe by lighting her locks up a notch, going with an even more platinum look. "Who wouldn’t want to look like Marilyn Monroe?” Lambert asks. “With the album being [called] 'Platinum,' I got lighter in my hair because I wanted to pay homage to the title of the record."

In addition to her glimmering, golden locks (which she recently chopped into a short bob), Lambert pays homage to the album's title in other ways. Really, she could be a walking advertisement for the precious metal. During the interview, the Oklahoma-based singer wore platinum jewelry highlighted by a necklace that spelled out the title.

“Everything that was silver is now platinum,” Lambert says. “We don’t even speak the word silver anymore in our team."

The singer's Platinum Tour kicked off Thursday (July 10). It runs through September, hitting 30 cities along the way. There will no doubt be lots of platinum incorporated throughout her set, and one very blonde singer at the center of attention.
