Miranda Lambert revealed that she's formed a new girl group called Pistol Annies at Monday night's taping of the upcoming ACM TV special 'Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country.' The trio brings together three good friends: Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. Pistol Annies will have their debut performance when the special airs.

"I can’t say too much about it because I want it to be a surprise, but it’s a called Pistol Annies and it’s really cool," Lambert tells All Access.

Presley is a native of Kentucky who recently wrote the song 'Look It Up' on newcomer Ashton Shepherd's recently released EP. Monroe has released two singles that made it to Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. One of her previous releases, 'I Don't Want To,' featured Ronnie Dunn.

Lambert says, "They’re both artists on their own and they’re great friends of mine, and we’ve just been writing songs like crazy. I’ve always kind of wanted to do a girl project, but it's not a typical girl trio. We definitely have an edge."

We don't know when Lambert's new "project" will be out, but we're keeping an eye on their official site and Facebook page. Make sure to catch the new trio on 'Girls Night Out,' airing on CBS on April 22 at 9PM ET. The show pays tribute to many of country music’s female artists and legends.
