Fans of Miranda Lambert's trio with Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe, the much feted Pistol Annies, have been waiting for ages for new music—with many being vocal on social media about the long delay. Turns out, 2018 may just be the year their wish comes true.

In a post on Instagram, Lambert teased that she is working on some new music, and hinted that the new material just might be slated for the Annies.

"I sing (and write ....and drink) in the shower. #andsoitbegins #music #maybepistolannies💗 #songstarts #acoustics," she captioned the photo.

In an interview with Billboard last summer, Lambert noted that there would be a new album from the Annies on the way in 2018, but she gave no details or even hints about when exactly to expect the music.

The spitfire trio scored a No. 1 album and a gold record with their 2011 debut, Hell on Heels, and released a follow-up titled Annie Up in 2013. In June of 2013, they abruptly canceled all of their tour dates for the year, and rumors have swirled off and on ever since about alleged tensions in the group, which the members have repeatedly denied. The trio most recently reunited live at a Lambert concert in Arkansas in July of 2016, performing "Hell on Heels" and "Takin' Pills."

Monroe has held off releasing new music since 2015's Grammy-nominated The Blade; she gave birth to a baby boy in 2017. Presley released her second solo album, Wrangled, in 2017. Lambert's 2016 offering,The Weight of These Wings, won the award for Album of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards.
