Clare Bowen, who plays the shy and sweet Scarlett O'Connor on CMT's Nashvillecontinues to make her mark on the music world with the video for her powerful new song, "Love Steps In," which was inspired by her brother's fight with cancer.

Written by her fiance, Brandon Robert Young, along with Justin Halpin, the song serves as a tribute to Timothy James Bowen, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma in 2015. Though given just two weeks to live, Timothy revealed he was in remission in 2016, a moment that was captured on video when he made an exciting appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. The "Love Steps In" video includes sequences of Clare recording the song in the studio, in addition to images of her family and shots of her performing the song on tour, breaking down in tears at one point.

Country Stars Who've Been Touched by Cancer

Young surprised his fiancee with the track during a visit to Australia to see her brother just after he'd been in a car accident and diagnosed with cancer.

"Brandon came to me one day and said, 'Sweetheart, I'm not even sure if I should play this for you, but it was a song that I had to write. You don't have to sing it if you don't like it,'" Bowen tells Rolling Stone Country. "It was so cathartic for him -- in the position of supporting somebody who was in shock of hearing that their brother was so sick -- that he had to get it out."

The Nashville star herself fought a courageous battle with the deadly disease when she was just 4 years old and diagnosed with kidney cancer, given two weeks to live. She chopped off her long locks in 2015 as a sign of solidarity with those fighting cancer and in an effort to challenge beauty norms. Proceeds from "Love Steps In" will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
