Kelly Clarkson is one busy lady these days. Not only is she preparing to be a first-time mom, as she's expecting a baby girl with husband Brandon Blackstock, but she's also working on a new album!

However, fans hoping to hear typical Clarkson songs may be in for a big surprise. The songstress has been working with up-and-coming pop producer Jesse Shatkin, who tells MuuMuse that the songs Clarkson is choosing sound "a little left-of-center and cool."

So, what does "left-of-center" sound like? According to Shatkin, "One of [the songs]  is kind of an electronic banger, but it has kind of a haunting melody that I think she was attracted to."

He adds that the 31-year-old is "really open-minded" when it comes to trying out new sounds.

While an 'electronic banger' doesn't sound like a typical country song, one thing will certainly remain the same: the powerhouse vocals that helped Clarkson win 'American Idol' and kick off her career will be in place. The songstress has long been successful in effortlessly applying her voice to pop, and recently, country songs.

Fans of Clarkson's Christmas release 'Wrapped in Red' and 2011 album 'Stronger' will be glad to know that Shatkin was involved in both of those projects, so he's knowledgeable about 'Tie It Up' hitmaker.

A release date is yet to be announced for the star's forthcoming album.
