Country singer Nick Malloy was trapped inside his vehicle after he drove off the road and slammed into an embankment on Wednesday morning (March 28) near Macon, Ga. The frontman for the Nick Malloy Band is a friend of Dierks Bentley's and has an EP that has caught the attention of a number of major artists in Nashville.

Bentley shared the news via his personal Twitter page, saying "prayers for my good friend and country singer @nickmalloy. hurt in a bad car accident. he was just at our show sat night. can't believe it."

WMAZ reports that Malloy is undergoing extensive surgery and that he is in critical but stable condition. He is the son of WMAZ anchor Frank Malloy. "He is talking, and it could have been a lot worse," the older Malloy said.

It's not clear at this time what caused the 23-year-old singer to veer off of I-75 into the embankment. The accident happened at around 8AM. It was a single car accident and the vehicle flipped over.

The Nick Malloy Band plays frequently throughout the southeast, especially in Georgia. Fans have been leaving messages of support on his Facebook page.
