Every year in April, thousands of old school music fans flock to record stores in celebration of national Record Store Day. This year, the Pistol Annies will join in on the fun--and capitalize on the musical tastes of throwback listeners--with the April 21 release of 'Hell on Heels' on vinyl. That's today!

The fierce femme trio, comprised of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, originally released 'Hell on Heels' last August. The platter earned critical acclaim, and its title track achieved Gold status.

The group was born during a songwriting session between Lambert and Monroe. While writing and sharing stories, Monroe decided that Lambert and Presley needed to meet. A midnight phone call with the three of them launched the group. The three songstresses either wrote or co-wrote every song on the album and were joined by Lambert's hubby Blake Shelton on the song 'Family Feud.'

"The music of the Pistol Annies is the three of us truly being ourselves—not only in our songwriting and storytelling, but also in the way we perform as a team," Lambert said (quote via PistolAnnies.com.)

She continued, "We wanted to make music that people talk about but might not want to admit and it’s the kind of raw and honest country music that deserves to be on vinyl."

In addition to the vinyl release, the Pistol Annies have made a widget available that will give fans without record players a chance to listen to the pops and cracks that vinyl lovers prefer.

The old country sound of 'Hell on Heels' sounds even better on pressed vinyl. For a list of participating stores, visit here.
