RaeLynn's adorable love song "For a Boy" was inspired by an interesting 'date.' The firecracker stopped by Taste of Country Nights to tell host Sam Alex about the inspiration behind the song, as well the dream come true that is attending the ACM Awards.

"For a Boy" is RaeLynn's newest single, and it's honest and sincere. She wrote it after what she calls a "sneak attack date" — a date that was disguised as a hangout.

“I wrote ‘For a Boy’ about this date that I went on ... I call these dates sneak attack dates, when a guy tells you he wants to go to dinner with you and then he ends up paying for your food and starts telling you about how he feels and stuff, and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is really weird'," RaeLynn tells Alex, before further explaining. "You didn’t want it to be like that — you just thought you were two friends. This guy was just pouring his heart out to me and telling me how he feels and as I was driving home, I was talking to my mom and I was like, 'For a boy, I really do believe him. He’s really good at saying sorry and wearing his heart on his sleeve.’ And he inspired that song."

That wasn't the first time the young singer encountered a "sneak attack date." If you can believe it, she's had it happen three times! That may be why she's bringing her best gal pal as her date to the ACMs on Sunday (April 19). Even though she's close friends with megastars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, RaeLynn still can't believe her life now includes walking the red carpet at awards shows.

“It never stops feeling surreal, ‘cause I grew up watching the ACMs and I grew up watching the CMA Awards and all these different award shows, too," she shares, "So to be an artist on the red carpet and to have a single out there is definitely a dream come true every time."

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
