Rascal Flatts and Christina Aguilera teamed up for a stellar performance at the 50th Annual ACM Awards.

They started by singing Aguilera's new song "Shotgun." The song was written by Sean McConnell for Aguilera's stint on the ABC drama Nashville. Aguilera called the song a "quiet, beautiful song about true love that lasts a lifetime."

After performing "Shotgun," they segued into Rascal Flatts' "Riot." The song is the third single from their Rewind album. Fans danced and grooved along as the talented singers performed the medley.

Bassist Jay DeMarcus viewed Sunday’s performance as “a chance to redeem ourselves” after the trio were forced to lip sync on the show in 2014. Singer Gary LeVox lost his voice before the show, so they chose to fake it instead of canceling. Fans quickly figured it out, and the trio were left having to explain themselves.

“We’re still getting asked about it,” DeMarcus admits.

Rascal Flatts have won seven ACM Awards for Vocal Group of the Year, and were nominated in that category again on Sunay night.
