Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus is slated to make his film debut next year along with Trace Adkins in the holiday film 'Saving Santa.' With Kix Brooks sitting in the executive director chair, it's no surprise that this upcoming release has so many country ties. Touted as “a sweet, funny, holiday story about the belief in love, goodness and the spirit of Christmas," 'Saving Santa' is set to debut next year.

The film tells the story of a worldwide campaign to eradicate the belief in Santa Claus. As people across the globe lose their belief in the jolly old fellow, Santa subsequently loses his power and ends up stranded in the middle of a rural community with his lead elf, Elliot. Two children on the Logan Lazy L Ranch discover their childhood hero and set about to save him, and subsequently, save Christmas.

Others cast in this flick include Abraham Benrubi, Joey Lauren Adams, Kevin Pollak and Illeana Douglas, according to IMDB. Though Adkins has appeared in other films, including 'The Lincoln Lawyer' and 'An American Carol,' this will be DeMarcus' first time setting foot in the limelight of the big screen.

DeMarcus has spent the past few weeks working on the film, keeping his fans updated via Twitter the entire time, posting photos and quick tweets like, "Good times on the set of Saving Santa." Aside from his budding acting career, the country star can celebrate the fact that the video for Rascal Flatts' single 'Easy' is a nominee for CMT's Top 30 Videos of 2011.
