Reba McEntire is a very busy woman — her new album, Love Somebody, impacted April 14 — but she still finds time to cook and spend time with family, including her granddaughter, River Rose.

During a chat with Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex, the country legend let fans have a little peek at her family life. McEntire is a devoted grandma even when she's busy recording, touring, promoting and preparing for the ACM Awards. River Rose's musical genes extend far beyond the country star (her mother is Kelly Clarkson), so it's no surprise that she's already a music lover. She even has a favorite singer already!

“Anything her mother sings is her favorite," McEntire shares. “Would you be complaining if your mom was Kelly Clarkson?"

We definitely wouldn't, but we bet River Rose will also enjoy her grandma's new album, which is finally on store shelves. McEntire says she's been extra lucky to work with really talented songwriters this time around, including newcomer Sam Hunt.

“He cowrote one of the songs, absolutely," she says of Hunt. "I was very lucky with this album because a lot of the great songwriters let me listen to ‘em and said ‘Alright you can record ‘em’ so I was really thrilled with that.”

This Sunday, McEntire will take the stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards, but her performance is top secret. And she admits she'll be nervous come showtime.

“I don’t get that nervous on rehearsal, but when the night comes and all your peers and your competition, people in the music business, are out there on the first 15 rows," she explains, "Oh yeah, I get nervous then.”

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
