Reba McEntire is calling on fans to pray for peace as violence has once again erupted in Ferguson, Mo.

Riots and looting swept the St. Louis suburb overnight in the wake of the announcement that a grand jury would not return any indictment against Darren Wilson, a police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager named Michael Brown in August. The incident has heightened racial tensions throughout the country, but especially in the local community.

Brown's parents and President Obama called on protesters to remain peaceful, but the widespread unrest began soon after the announcement, with reports of heavy gunfire as demonstrators clashed with police and set fire to buildings all over town.

McEntire released a new song, 'Pray for Peace,' in July via Facebook. In a post on Tuesday (Nov. 25), she urged fans to "Pray for forgiveness, pray for the community, pray for the families, pray for understanding and pray for love. I pray for all those things and for God to be with the town of Ferguson."

Garth Brooks issued a statement on Tuesday after flying into New York City for a series of appearances to promote his new album. That statement reads:

We landed in NY last night to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation. To spend the day promoting our stuff like nothing was wrong, seemed distasteful to me. I will gladly reschedule any or all appearances the networks will allow.

Love one another...g

According to the Wrap, Brooks has canceled appearances on 'The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,' the 'Today' show and 'Live! With Kelly and Michael.'

Charlie Daniels and Chely Wright also took to social media to react to the news out of Ferguson.
