Reba McEntire is gearing up to release a new studio album, and as part of her Taste of Country takeover, she's giving our readers an exclusive first look at one of the new songs titled "She Got Drunk Last Night."

Written by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, the song tells the story of a woman who, feeling lonely and full of self-doubt, uses alcohol to get up the courage to call a man for some comfort: "So she got drunk last night / Drunk enough to call / That number in her phone that she would never call without the alcohol / But she needed an excuse / To let herself get used, and so that's why / She got drunk last night."

The country superstar calls the track "probably the most country song on the album. Unfortunately, it's a relatable song by many people. It's that you have to have that one more drink before you can make that call," she adds with a laugh. "Unfortunately."

In the video above, Reba and co-producer Tony Brown work on the song in the studio with several session musicians, putting down various instrumental tracks and vocals to create the seamless track that you'll hear on McEntire's new album, Love Somebody.

The album's 12 tracks include contributions from some of Nashville's hottest songwriters. In addition to Clark and McAnally, Sam Hunt, Ashley Gorley, Lori McKenna and Josh Osborne are among the writers with songs on the project. The result is a collection that addresses a lot of different styles.

“Well, it’s got an eclectic feel to it,” she says. “It’s got happy songs, love songs, drinking songs … It’s all over the map. "

Love Somebody is set for release on Tuesday (April 14) via Nash Icon. Buy it here.
