Reba McEntire will host the 53rd annual ACM Awards in April. While the superstar is excited to helm the event, she admits she was disappointed that no females were nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

The male-dominated category nominated Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban for the coveted honor. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, McEntire says despite the heavy male recognition she has faith that things will lean in favor of the women soon.

"It's disappointing that there's no female in the Entertainer of the Year category," she says. "But the country music business is very cyclical. It'll go very traditional with the music, or it will go very contemporary. The girls dominate or the boys dominate. So, it's coming around. I have faith."

In addition to serving as host at the awards show, McEntire is nominated as Female Vocalist of the Year. The singer receives her 16th nod in the category alongside Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballerini.

McEntire has collaborated with several of the women in the past and raves about this year's female nominees. Citing Ballerini as "a fun gal," and praising fellow Okie Underwood and Lambert for winning "tons of awards," the country legend says it's fun to hang with the girls.

"There's so many great entertainers and singers that are female. So, to be in the category with these other four women, very talented, people that I admire and love listening to, it's an honor to be in the same category with them," she adds.

The 2018 ACM Awards air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 15.
