Remember When Darius Rucker Was in a Burger King Commercial?

Subscribe to Taste of Country on

Before Darius Rucker went country, he went country for Burger King! That’s the Hootie and the Blowfish singer dressed in his best country duds to sell Burger King’s tender crisp, bacon cheddar ranch sandwich. He’s far from the only celebrity to star in the spot, however.

Brooke Burke and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders help Rucker move meat in this 2005 advertisement that promises rivers of ranch dressing, streets paved with cheddar and “Your wildest fantasies come true / Dallas cheerleaders give you shaves.” The song is a spoof of “Big Rock Candy Mountain.”

Less than three short years later, Rucker would release his country debut, and a few years after that he’d become a Grand Ole Opry member. Does he have the Burger King to thank? Decide for yourself by watching the commercial.
