No. 77: Sammy Kershaw, ‘Love of My Life’ – Top 100 Country Love Songs

In 1997, Sammy Kershaw put the popular phrase, "love of my life" to music and created an instant country love song hit. Not only did this addition to the Top 100 Country Love Songs score Kershaw the No. 2 spot on the country charts, but it quickly became a classic love ballad.

In the song, Kershaw sings from the perspective of a male narrator who is thanking the love of his life for swooping in and saving him from himself. Longtime country music fans haven't been able to hear the phrase 'love of my life' without thinking of Kershaw's voice since the tune tore up the charts 15 years ago.
