Sara Evans has started her own record label. Born to Fly Records is a new independent label with distribution through Sony Red.

It’s a new business endeavor for Evans, who has primarily been an artist since her major label beginnings in 1997. She will be in charge of Born to Fly Records and also plans to release her forthcoming album via her new label. In August 2016, it was revealed that Evans had signed a deal with Sugar Hill Records and planned to release an album this year. It's not clear what led her to change paths.

Evans titled her record label after her early 2000s hit song "Born to Fly" (and her double-platinum album by the same name), as she’s felt a personal connection to the name since moving to Nashville.

“I’m extremely excited to be launching this venture and I love that the label is Born To Fly,” Evans explains. “I wrote that song about my own life, coming to Nashville and following my dreams. It’s a dream come true to surround myself with my own team and truly embrace my entrepreneurial spirit, taking complete control of my career and brand is so freeing. I can’t wait to share this new project with everyone.”

Currently, Evans is focusing on her upcoming record and has released a series of singles since her full-length 2014 Christmas album. Her latest song, "Infinite Love," was released in 2016 and features reality TV star Todd Chrisley from Chrisley Knows Best.

As of now, Evans only has plans to release her own music via the label, but signing other artists could be in Born to Fly’s near future.
