Is Scotty McCreery the sexiest man in country music? Fans who voted in Country Weekly's recent poll think so, but the singer? Not so much.

During 2015 CMA Awards week, Taste of Country's Billy Dukes had the chance to catch up with the "Southern Belle" singer to get the scoop on what that honor means to him. And although McCreery has better hair than most and a smile that could melt the chocolate off of a Hershey bar, he's giving all credit to his fans.

"I did not campaign to be the sexiest man in country. But fans they love those polls. So, yeah, very flattering," McCreery admits.

McCreery is quite humble about being crowned Country Music's Sexiest Man — he's also keeping his fingers crossed that news doesn't travel fast to his hometown and that his friends don't catch wind of the honor.

"My friends back home, I really pray they don't see it," the singer says with a laugh. "I'll get some good-natured ribbing when I get home."

At least McCreery will have one more story to include in his upcoming autobiography, a term that the young star is still getting used to.

"Autobiography is a weird term for me because I'm 22,  and God willing I have a lot of life left for experiences," he explains. "For me it's more of a travel blog and memoirs. My 22 years has been a lot different than most, we got some good stories and experiences, I had to grow up early at 16, so just my take on things, you know, lessons learned."

McCreery's literary project, titled Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, will be available on May 3, 2016. The North Carolina native is also preparing the release of his third studio album, which is slated to drop in 2016, as well.
