Scotty McCreery is returning to TV. McCreery, who was just accepted to college, will not be appearing on 'American Idol' or another reality competition series, either. Instead, he will make his scripted TV debut with a guest appearance on the CW series 'Hart of Dixie.'

According to the Huffington Post, McCreery will be playing himself on the episode that is scheduled to air on April 23. He will be doing what he does best: performing. McCreery is set to sing 'The Trouble With Girls' during what is being described as a crucial scene between series lead Zoe, playing by Rachel Bilson, and George, portrayed by Scott Porter.

'Hart of Dixie,' with its series story arc about a big city doctor who retreats to a practice in small town Alabama, has mined the country music world in the past, incorporating plenty of country songs into the show.

Will you be tuning in on April 23 to see Scotty McCreery's cameo on 'Hart of Dixie?' Do you think this could lead to him portraying a character on a TV show down the road?
