Scotty McCreery is Safe on ‘American Idol’ Once Again

America's love affair with Scotty McCreery has not ended, as the country singer has advanced to another round on 'American Idol.'

It was a tense coupla moments though, as Ryan Seacrest said "Wow" when he saw the results and prepared to reveal them to McCreery! It made you think, just for a fleeting second, that Scotty, who has never been in the bottom three, was going to be hanging by a thread. Damn you, Seacrest!

There's an obvious reason for McCreery's ability to stave off elimination. His performing arsenal has expanded from his deep, low voice to include higher ranges and registers, expressive, darting and welcoming eyes and raised eyebrow motions. Not to mention his cocked head and the curved way he holds his microphone! That's called a total package, folks! No wonder audiences are clearly responding to him and his developing signature moves.

Last night, McCreery rocked 'Swingin'' by LeAnn Rimes and while the judges deemed this a safe choice -Randy Jackson even said he was "bored"- Scotty handled the song with his patented swagger and style. At the end of the night, it's America's votes that count and American hearts Scotty McCreery.

Also, on tonight's episode, the young country singer said that his fans back home named a butterscotch cupcake named after him. Delish, just like McCreery's 'Idol' performances.
