Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina Get Sweet With ‘American Honey’ on Tonight’s ‘American Idol’
Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina opened tonight's episode of 'American Idol' with their heartwarming and absolutely terrific version of Lady Antebellum's 'American Honey.' This isn't the first time the two downhome teens have taken the stage to duet on an elimination and results episode -- they did so two weeks ago with a tender rendition of 'I Told You So' that burned itself in our memories with its touching warmth.
The duo both favor a country twang with their 'Idol' performances -- McCreery more so than Alaina, but overall, both have that country "thang" and could go on to have successful careers in the genre. They have the building blocks in place, and 'Idol' is certainly helping these two get one step closer to their overall dreams.
Their vocal chemistry on Lady A's signature hit was so sweet, it'd give you a mouthful of cavities. McCreery looked every bit the country superstar with his suede jacket and jeans, while Alaina's lemon yellow dress was age appropriate and darling; it fit her sunny personality. Everything from the song to the sound to the styling of this performance was spot on. We think McCreery and Alaina -- who both are advancing another week in the competition -- would make a super cute couple, too. Just sayin'.
