Troops and military families at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota are getting ready to say 'See You Tonight' to Scotty McCreery next Wednesday (July 24), as he prepares for his first-ever USO concert.

The 19-year-old North Carolina State University sophomore and 'American Idol' winner is following in the footsteps of many of his fellow country crooners, who are always glad to entertain and thank the military families for their incredible service and sacrifice to our nation.

McCreery is looking forward to this free and exclusive event, saying, “It’s because of the men and women who defend this country, and the sacrifices of their families, that we are able to wake up everyday with the freedoms that we often take for granted."

He adds, "I’m grateful to the USO for allowing me the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to our troops and their families.”

Country music stars have been doing this for a long time. Toby Keith has performed USO concerts since 2002, including his most recent in the Philippines, Guam, and Hawaii. Brantley Gilbert headed out on his first oversees USO concert this past spring, while successful 'Idol' contestant Kellie Pickler has eagerly embarked on several USO tours.

Hopefully McCreery will treat the military families to a few songs off his upcoming sophomore album scheduled to be released this October.
