Superstar Shania Twain hasn't debuted a new song in six years … until today. Today is her day, today is your day and today is the day that a two-minute teaser of the a capella, played-on-a-banjo-and-acoustic-guitar song 'Today is Your Day' was unveiled.

The song is Twain's first newly recorded tune since 'Shoes,' which appeared on the 2005 soundtrack for 'Desperate Housewives.' It's been six long years since we've heard new music from Twain, and it's about time!

The song is slow in tempo and is a stark contrast to the big, bouncy, pop-country songs that helped Twain move millions of units and to become the biggest selling female country artist of all time. It's a marked difference from even her ballad-y megahits like 'You're Still the One.'

Twain is working hard on locating her voice, and this song is a benchmark moment for her, as she is letting her voice be heard despite feeling like she could no longer sing, which is something she is documenting very publicly on her new reality series 'Why Not? With Shania Twain.'

Twain told Perez Hilton that the entire song will be released by the end of the series, which is a gripping docu-drama about the singer's search to find her voice and to learn how to  sing and perform again amid the crippling betrayal she endured at the hands of her ex-husband and her best friend.

Tune in to the show on Sunday nights on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network at 10PM ET. In the meantime, get a sneak peek of Twain's new tune right here.
