Song of the Year is one of the most important awards fans will have to decide during the 2015 Taste of Country Fan Choice Awards. Tim McGraw has owned this category in recent years, but he's not nominated in 2015. Instead, songs from veterans like Reba McEntire and Little Big Town will square off against newcomers like Kelsea Ballerini and Chris Janson.

"Going Out Like That" was held back by radio politics, but it was a grand comeback for McEntire. The lead single from Love Somebody proved this singer's voice is still needed on country radio. Overall it was a good year for women. "Love Me Like You Mean It" and "Girl Crush" are two more female-fronted songs that scored nods.

Janson's "Buy Me a Boat" is the underdog story of the year, but no newcomer rose as quickly as Sam Hunt, who lands a nomination with "Take Your Time." Keith Urban's "Raise 'Em Up," Thomas Rhett's "Crash and Burn" and Zac Brown Band's "Homegrown" fill out the category. Any one of the eight could win — it all depends on fans.
