As the music world continues to pray for the ailing Aretha Franklin, the always-outspoken (but heartfelt) Steven Tyler put his feelings for her into words.

“Aretha Franklin, you have reached millions of people with your style and your magic,” he remarked when TMZ caught up with him on the street. "God bless you and everyone that have you on their mind. Big prayers to you. Love you Aretha. Respect."

And then, in true Tyler fashion, the sometimes-country rocker decided sang a bar of Franklin’s most famous song, "Respect."

On Monday (Aug. 13), reports surfaced that Franklin — a music icon — was "gravely ill," according to Ultimate Classic Rock. The 76-year-old was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. On Tuesday, her nephew told reporters that despite the headlines, Franklin is "alert, laughing, teasing."

Tyler is just one of the many artists who have used their social media channels to express sadness and hope over the Queen of Soul's health. Sheryl Crow headed to her Twitter page to share her thoughts about the music giant, calling Franklin "the most soulful angelic voice that ever was."

People magazine says Franklin is at home with family. Reports also say that Franklin has been visited by friends Stevie Wonder and Jesse Jackson.

"She is seriously ill and surrounded by family members who appreciate the outpouring of love and support they have received," Franklin’s publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, says.
