Stoney LaRue Steals the No. 1 Texas Music Chart Spot With ‘Velvet’
Kevin Fowler's six-week winning streak just ended. Stoney LaRue sweeps into the No. 1 slot on the Texas music chart this week with his song 'Velvet,' pushing 'Hell Yeah, I Like Beer' to second place. That's great news for LaRue, who was No. 3 just last week, but Fowler could easily pull it back in time for next week's chart update.
Behind Fowler, Casey Donahew Band, Eli Young Band and Josh Abbott Band round out the Top 5. Abbott's latest single, 'My Texas,' is a true favorite across the Lone Star State (for obvious reasons), but has seen success elsewhere thanks to the legendary Pat Green, who is featured on the track. The song follows JAB's hugely popular single 'Oh, Tonight.'
Turnpike Troubadours' 'Long Hot Summer Days' is at No. 6 this week, with Jason Cassidy's 'Honky Tonk Heaven' and Brandon Rhyder's 'In the Country' just behind it. Adam Hood -- a favorite of Miranda Lambert -- walks in at No. 9, up from No. 13, and he's ready to climb to the top. Unfortunately, that means stepping on Granger Smith to get there. 'Sleeping on the Interstate' found a place to snooze at No. 10.
Tune in to Taste of Country next week to see whether or not Kevin Fowler can gain some more momentum with 'Hell Yeah, I Like Beer,' or if Texas country fans have had their fill for the summer.
