Big and Rich

Big & Rich are one of the most successful and flamboyant duos in country music history. They formed out of the ashes of other projects; John Rich had been an early member of Lonestar, and "Big Kenny" Alphin had pursued a solo career on Hollywood Records. They revolutionized country radio with the release of their debut album, 'Horse of a Different Color,' in 2004, by blending contemporary country and rock influences in a way that hadn't been done before. Their debut single, "Wild West Show," peaked at No. 21, but their second single, "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)," was a massive commercial breakthrough, accompanied by a colorful video that received extensive airplay. They've gone on to score hits with "Holy Water," "Big Time," "Lost in This Moment" and others. They have also written songs, both together and separately, for other artists including Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Gretchen Wilson and more. Big & Rich took a hiatus after 2007's 'Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace,' with both members pursuing solo work. They reunited for 'Hillbilly Jedi' in 2012 and released their most recent album, 'Gravity,' via their own newly-formed label in 2014.

Big and Rich needed every last vote, literally, to top Kix Brooks's new song on the Showdown yesterday and last night on Taste of Country Nights radio. 'Party Like Cowboyz' won by just two votes, the smallest margin of victory ever. The duo will need those voters to return -- and to bring friends -- on Friday.

In 'Party Like Cowboyz,' Big and Rich once again become the wild-eyed, brash, cowboy rockers that originally attracted so many fans to their diesel-powered style when they debuted in 2003.  No one is going to accuse John Rich and Big Kenny of excessive versatility, but they do what they do with genuine conviction and passion.

Bon Jovi are no strangers to country music, having scored a No. 1 hit in the genre with their Jennifer Nettles-assisted version of 'Who Says You Can't Go Home' back in 2006. So it's not a huge surprise to see that guitarist Richie Sambora is working with country duo Big and Rich. So we guess that means we can call them "Big and Richie," if only for a song?

Big and Rich, ‘That’s Why I Pray’ – Song Review
With the exception of their submission to the 'Footloose' soundtrack, Big and Rich have just released their first new single since 2007. Both members of the duo have found some success as solo artists, but 'That's Why I Pray' serves as a reminder of how much Big Kenny Alphin and John Rich need each other.
