"Everybody's so down in the dumps, and all this doomsday attitude with the economy so bad and all the wars and the bad weather," she tells Taste of Country. "People really need to be uplifted a little bit right now." And so, Parton went ahead and did what she does best to try to do her part: write songs. 'Better Day' -- which is available now -- features a collection of positive tunes, including the hopeful first single, 'Together You and I.'
