Jason Aldean was six months away from giving up his dream to return home to Georgia when he was offered a recording contract with Broken Bow Records. He was discouraged after years spent trying to “make it” in Nashville, only to have deals fall or promises go unkept. Aldean moved to Nashville at age 21, but wouldn’t release his first single until ‘Hicktown’ hit radio in 2005. Songs from his first two albums met mixed results, but his fanbase grew slowly as people realized he was helping to usher in a new era of country music. ‘She’s Country’ from the ‘Wide Open’ album would begin a streak of Top 5 singles, including multiple multi-Platinum releases. By 2012, he was in regular consideration for the format’s top awards.

There's no way around it. Jason Aldean really wanted to win his second straight ACM Award for Entertainer of the Year, but he knows all four of the other nominees wanted it just as badly. While the singer said he was at a "loss for words" backstage, he also shared that any "nice to be here" talk is kind of a fib.
