Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett has gone from success as a Nashville songwriter to success as a fast-rising country star in the space of just a few short years. Rhett’s musical aspirations began in high school, and he attended Lipscomb University in Nashville with an eye toward that goal, where he began to pursue performing live. Rhett made his name in Nashville initially as a songwriter, writing a song for Jason Aldean titled “I Ain’t Ready to Quit” for 2010’s ‘My Kinda Party’ album, and also penning “1994” for Aldean, as well as hits for Lee Brice and Florida Georgia Line. He released his debut single, “Something to Do With My Hands,” in 2012, following it up with “Beer With Jesus.” Both of those songs were reasonable successes, but it was Rhett’s third single, “It Goes Like This,” that proved his breakthrough, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and No. 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart. He released his debut album, ‘It Goes Like This,’ in October of 2013, and scored two more No. 1 hits with “Get Me Some of That” and “Make Me Wanna.” Rhett took a different approach for his second album, ‘Tangled Up,’ which he released in September of 2015. The album showed him exploring more of his R&B influences, especially the lead single, “Crash and Burn,” which also reached No. 1. On the personal side, Rhett married his longtime love Lauren, whom he has known since first grade, in October of 2012.
