Wade Bowen's heart of gold was in full force earlier this month when he held his 14th Annual Wade Bowen Classic concert and golf tournament in his hometown of Waco, Texas. The event, which benefits the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children, raised $150,000 over the course of a weekend.

Wade Bowen is gearing up to host his 14th Annual Wade Bowen Celebrity Golf Tournament and Concert on May 6-7 in his hometown of Waco, Texas. The 'Saturday Night' singer hosts the tournament each year to benefit the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children, an organization that works with adults and children who have been victims of crime.

Texas native Wade Bowen recently released an acoustic video for his chart-climbing single 'Saturday Night.' The video is just somber enough to fit with the sad feel of the song. Shot all in black and white, it simply shows Bowen sitting on a stool in a large empty room playing his guitar, or standing in front of a window with a train passing by.

While the other Texas country crooners' songs mingled and swapped places on the charts from last week to this one, Bowen held tight to his reigning position.

Things have been going pretty well for Wade Bowen as of late. Not only did the Texas country king dominate Taste of Country's Red Dirt Rumble last week, but he's since reached No. 1 on the Texas music chart -- perhaps directly thanks to our competition (we kid).

Last week's Taste of Country Texas Red Dirt Rumble was a close one, but in the end, Wade Bowen came out on top against Casey Donahew Band. Now, Bowen and his song 'Saturday Night' are up against a new competitor. Aaron Watson's 'Fast Cars Slow Kisses' enters the ring this week, and both Texas country crooners are out for blood -- figuratively speaking, of course.

In last week's Taste of Country Texas Red Dirt Rumble, the Casey Donahew Band picked a big fight, going up against Eli Young Band's 'Crazy Girl' and winning with a wide margin: 60.76% to EYB's 39%. This week, Donahew and his boys will face off again, this time against Wade Bowen's current hit 'Saturday Night,' which is No. 5 on the Texas charts.

Now, with his hot new single, 'Saturday Night,' Bowen is gearing up for the release of his first album with new label home Sea Gayle/BNA Records. The new collection of tunes is Bowen's seventh album to date, but it's this selection of songs in which the singer-songwriter has found happiness in music. Taste of Country recently visited with Bowen to discuss his music, life on the road and what keeps it all fresh in his heart after many years in the business.

Wade Bowen's major label debut is a story half told. While 'Saturday Night' is a different type of tear-in-my-beer country song -- the singer loses appreciation for Saturday nights because a girl dumped him (we assume) on a Saturday night -- it fails to go into enough detail to make an impression. It's like a McDonald's Big Mac without the special sauce. You gotta have the special sauce!
