The new year is approaching quickly, and Taylor Swift wants get a head start on 2012, starting with a change in her look. The soon-to-be 22-year-old 'Ours' songstress debuted a new haircut last week, sporting a straight 'do and bangs for the first time -- but how is she liking the fresh style?

Stylelist caught up with the singer at the recent Billboard Women in Music event, where she was named Woman of the Year. Swift revealed that she didn't plan her new cut in advance, but brought in her new bangs on a whim. "I was on a photo shoot and they wanted to do, like, clip-in bangs and straighten my hair. I just said, ‘Why don’t you just cut them?’ They did."

She added, "I’ve loved the way that bangs look on other people. I always seem to want to straighten my hair in the winter. And I think I just decided to go a step further this time."

Swift's new straight hair is a far cry from her usual spirals, but she spilled that the bangs/curls combo is not as hard to rock as many might think, so she may bring them back soon. "I think I can figure out a way to incorporate them. I was playing around with it in my hotel room, and I think that it might work both ways, but we’ll see," she said. "It’s just fun to play around with your hair and change it up. I never change it up, so this is nice."
