Taylor Swift Makes 4-Year-Old’s Dying Wish Come True
The internet asked, and Taylor Swift answered. The superstar made a dream come true for 4-year-old Jalene Salinas of San Antonio, Texas, who is battling an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer. Jalene had one final wish: to dance with Swift to her popular song "Shake It Off." Jalene's dream became a reality on Monday (March 2) evening.
Swift chatted with the young girl and her family during a surprise FaceTime call. "I'm so sorry you're having a bad night," the singer told the little girl, who was in pain that night. "I'm so happy to talk to you though and I'm so happy you like 'Shake It Off.' You look beautiful tonight, you really do. You're just as pretty as your pictures."
Jalene's family helped her accomplish the first items on her bucket list, such as building a snowman, going to school and driving an electric Big Wheel car. But they needed help getting the attention of Taylor Swift.
Members of the San Antonio community rallied together to help Jalene's final dream come true using the hashtag #ShakeItOffJalene on Twitter to try to get the star's attention. Swift heard about Jalene while on tour in London, and when she returned, she spent nearly a half hour talking to the younger girl in hopes of making her feel a little better. It worked. Although Jalene was in a lot of pain and didn't talk much, she lit up when she saw that Swift was on the phone.
It's a good thing she's good with kids, because Swift was recently asked to be the godmother of Jaime King's soon-to-arrive baby.
