Taylor Swift has never been to therapy, but she talks to her mom a lot. In a new interview, the country star opens up about the close relationship she and her mother, Andrea Swift, enjoy.

"My mom is the one who's seen everything," Swift tells Rolling Stone. "God, it takes so long to download somebody on the last 29 years of my life, and my mom has seen it all. She knows exactly where I’m coming from. And we talk endlessly."

Swift's fans know plenty about her bond with her mother: Andrea (and her husband, Scott) often accompany their daughter on tour, and Andrea has been with Swift at a number of other major events. Swift wrote her song "The Best Day," from her 2008 album Fearless, about her mom, who used to offer her daughter an "escape" when she felt down and out.

"[I was] remembering all the times that we had when she was my only friend when I was 13 and I couldn't understand why my friends were being so mean to me," Swift has said of writing the song. "She would just take me on these adventures, and we would drive around and go to towns we'd never seen before ... You're not supposed to run away from your problems, but when you're 13 and your friends won't talk to you and they move when you sit down at the lunch table, and your mom lets you run from those problems, I think it's a good thing."

To Rolling Stone, Swift elaborates, "There were times when I used to have really, really, really bad days where we would just be on the phone for hours and hours and hours. I’d write something that I wanted to say, and instead of posting it, I’d just read it to her."

Sadly, Andrea Swift has been fighting cancer in recent years. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2015, and in 2019, Taylor Swift shared that her mom had relapsed. Swift's newest album, Lover, features a song called "Soon You'll Get Better" that reflects on her mother's battle with cancer; it features the Dixie Chicks.
