Ever the entertainer, Taylor Swift's career ambitions actually have long included acting -- not just singing. So it makes sense that she's been on a continual lookout for acting gigs. Now, she may have found one, as reports surface that she's been cast in 'The Giver.'

According to Page Six, Swift is joining an amazing cast that includes Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and stars Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites -- the same Thwaites who hung out with the songstress at the Toronto Film Festival for the premiere of 'One Chance,' making the rumor mill go crazy with the possibility of romance.

Although those rumors were shot down by Thwaites himself, it is true that they were hanging out all night. In fact, the two were among the last to leave the party, talking for hours and grabbing burgers at 2AM. And now, it's clear they could have been talking work.

Sources say that Swift was offered a supporting role by Harvey Weinstein in Toronto, and that the deal for her to join 'The Giver' just closed. “Harvey introduced Taylor to Brenton in Toronto because they were both going to be in the film,” a source shares.

'The Giver' is based on the best-selling book by Lois Lowry. According to IMDB, the plot involves a seemingly perfect community without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice, and a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the "real" world.

No release date for the film has been announced.
